Instructions:
1. Cut 3 small plaques from basswood, measuring 2 3/4Ó x 4Ó x 1/4" each. Sand rough edges, including any on large plaque. Wipe grit with damp paper towel. Measure center at bottom, mark and drill hole for peg. Attach hanger on back at top center.

2. Large plaque-basecoat top surface Light Buttermilk with wash. Paint border edge Glorious Gold with Angular. When dry, use toothbrush and Glorious Gold and spatter surface of large plaque.

3. Palm Coast View-use angular to basecoat small plaque Baby Blue; quickly tip corner Sapphire and blend at top of sky and top of water to deepen color. Tip angular brush corner in Lt. Buttermilk and blend into sky. Use short side of brush and pull bristles upward for streak along bottom of sky. When dry, tip brush corner in Lt. Buttermilk and highlight tips of clouds. With 3/8 angular wave, paint waves with Lt. Buttermilk. Push edge of brush at top of waves to create foam. Pick up Sapphire and pull paint under foam to shade wave. Dry. Paint seagulls Lt. Buttermilk with liner. Use the round to paint sailboat Lt. Buttermilk. Double load 8 wave flat shader with Dk. Chocolate and Lt. Buttermilk and paint palm trunks apply less pressure while going upward. Brush bristles across trunks going from lighter side inward to create bark texture. Double load the 8 wave flat shader with Leaf Green and H. Lt. Green and paint palms using and leaf stroke. Leaf stroke is made by placing chisel edge at one point, apply pressure to widen stroke and quickly bring up and pull to make end point. Double load round with Dk. Chocolate and Lt. Buttermilk and paint coconuts.

4. Hilltop View-Basecoat sky and water Baby Blue with angular; tip corner in Sapphire and shade sky top to bottom. Tip corner in Lt. Buttermilk and highlight water top to bottom. If paint has dried, double load the colors with Baby Blue for shading and highlighting. Using short side of 1/2 angular blend in storm clouds in layered fashion. With 8 wave flat shader paint choppy waves using Sapphire. Stipple tree foliage with a double load of Leaf Green and H. Lt. Green on an 8 wave flat shader. Tip corner in Lt. Buttermilk and highlight randomly (use light pressure when pouncing to keep airy). Background-with 12 wave flat shader paint grass H. Lt. Green. Pull up grass along top edge with Leaf Green. Use an 8 wave flat shader double loaded with Leaf Green and H. Lt. Green and stipple in holly hock foliage. Double load round with Boysenberry Pink and Berry Red and dot in flowers. Tip corner of 8 wave flat shader in Lt. Buttermilk and highlight flower leaves. Double load script liner Lt. Buttermilk and Dk. Chocolate and paint fence and pieces of tree branches. Using watered down Lamp Black doubled loaded with Lt. Buttermilk, paint wire along fence. Double load 8 wave shader Dk. Chocolate and Lt. Buttermilk and paint path; tip corner in Dk. Chocolate and shade along left side. Grass is painted with 8 wave flat shader. Double load round T. Ochre and Cad. Yellow and with light pressure, dot in dandelions. Stipple climbing rose foliage on fence Leaf Green with 8 wave flat shader. Double load round Berry Red and Baby Pink and dot roses.

5. Sea Coast View-basecoat Baby Blue; tip angular corner in Lt. Buttermilk and highlight from top of sky downward. Shade water by blending in Sapphire at horizon going downward. Basecoat sand Desert Sand using angular; blend Dk. Chocolate at right bottom corner. With short side of 1/2 wave angular and Lt. Buttermilk use a press and pull stroke keeping a waving motion to make the shore waves. Water down Lt. Buttermilk to paint over sand. Double load Dk. Chocolate and Desert Sand and paint short choppy strokes over sand with corner tip of 1/2 angular wave. Paint gulls Lt. Buttermilk with script liner. Paint beach umbrella Lt. Buttermilk and Berry Red with round. Paint upright umbrella T. Ochre and highlight lines Cad. Yellow; line bottom and pole with double loaded script liner with Dk. Chocolate and Desert Sand. Paint blanket H. Lt. Green. Paint cooler Berry Red and line top Lt. Buttermilk. Paint basket double load of Dk. Chocolate and Lt. Buttermilk. Mix Berry Red, Dk. Chocolate and Lt. Buttermilk to make fleshtone and dot for people in water. Using script liner and Boysenberry Pink, paint details of rafts, swimsuits, etc. Line hair Dk. Chocolate.

6. Finish-varnish all plaques when paint has dried. Paint peg Glorious Gold and glue into drill hole. Cut and glue gold cord around plaque trio. Edges of each small plaque can be painted Glorious Gold before gluing onto large plaque. Take the designs from this project to paint skis, water, and clouds on other projects. Use floral and foliage techniques for miniature garden painting. Incorporate any of the design and add a lighthouse. Whatever you do .... just have fun painting!
